Wedding photography does not always have to feel traditional. I have always been drawn to a more editorial approach — a mix of modern wedding photography, fashion and contemporary imagery.

For me, an editorial is about creating images that feel intentional without feeling overly staged. I look for clean compositions, interesting light, beautiful movement and details that add to the overall feeling without taking over the image.

I am less interested in photographing every single detail and more interested in creating a visual story. How do the couple, the fashion, the location and the light work together? How can I create images that feel connected to the wedding, but could just as easily belong in a fashion editorial?

I particularly love the contrast between classic and contemporary elements. A timeless wedding dress in a modern setting. Historic architecture combined with minimal styling. Soft, romantic fabrics alongside stronger silhouettes. These contrasts are often what give an editorial its character.

At the same time, I never want the editorial aspect to take away from the emotion. Some of my favourite images are those that sit somewhere between fashion and a real moment — a spontaneous laugh, a subtle gesture, a movement or simply the way two people look at each other.

Styling plays an important role in creating this atmosphere. I prefer details that feel carefully chosen rather than excessive. Beautiful fabrics, modern silhouettes, sculptural florals, subtle stationery and a restrained colour palette can completely change the way a wedding story feels.

For this editorial at Hotel Sacher Salzburg, I wanted to bring these elements together. The classic surroundings created a timeless backdrop, while the styling and photography gave the story a more contemporary and fashion-inspired feeling.

I also photographed the editorial both digitally and on analogue film. I love the way these two approaches work together. Digital images can feel crisp and modern, while film brings a softer and more organic quality. The combination creates a visual language that feels refined without becoming too perfect.

For me, editorial wedding photography is not about making a wedding look like something it isn't. It is about finding a visual language that feels personal — using fashion, light, composition and atmosphere to tell the story in a different way.

That is what I love about this approach. It gives me the freedom to be creative while keeping the things that make wedding photography meaningful to me: real people, real emotions and real moments.
